The Whitby Brass Band is a traditional British style band, with a strong feeder group in our Junior Band program. The Whitby Brass Band’s existence predates Confederation, having been established in 1863. The Band performs year-round in a variety of concerts, parades, and other performing commitments in the Durham Region and surrounding areas.

For more detail on the band's policies and procedures, read our constitution here.

In a typical year, the band's performance commitments are as follows:

-A Spring Concert usually between the end of March and beginning of May
-A joint concert with the Community Concert Band of Whitby in May
-Brooklin Spring Fair (parade)
-Summer concerts by the lake, 3 or 4 of them on Thursday evenings on alternating weeks with rehearsals
-A concert on a July/August weekend (in a place such as Unionville or Orillia)
-Whitby Heritage Day (usually a Saturday in September)
-Concert on a Sunday afternoon in Scarborough (around November)
-Remembrance Day (parade)
-3 or 4 Santa Claus Parades on Saturdays in late November/early December
-Christmas Concert in early-mid December

Note that performances do continue throughout the summer, and we generally only take 1-2 weeks off at the very end of August.
